Relaxation Massage

This classic massage technique is also known as Swedish massage, the best-known type of bodywork performed today. The technique aims to promote relaxation by releasing muscle tension, stimulate nerve endings, increase blood flow and lymph drainage. Relaxation Massage is gentler than Therapeutic Massage (aka Deep Tissue Massage), and better suited for people interested in relaxation and tension relief. The primary goal of the Relaxation Massage is general relaxation, increased circulation, and reduced stress using a combination of kneading, long strokes, circular movements, and sometimes passive joint movements. Only light or medium pressure will be applied as to your preference. Heated moist towels may be used. If you have an area of concern please mention this so as to spend more time in this area to promote relaxation.

Therapeutic Massage

This corrective massage technique, also known as Deep Tissue Massage,  is a specific type of massage therapy that concentrates on the deep layers of muscle and fascia in the body; and recommended by many doctors as a treatment option. It is mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as adhesions, strains, chronic pain/conditions (such as arthritis), and sports injuries. It targets the inner layers of your muscles, tendons, and fascia (the dense connective tissue). It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes combined with cross-fiber friction, rolling, raking, kneading and other techniques to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. Working layer by layer using special techniques with the fingers, fists, knuckles, forearms, and maybe even elbows to reach and stretch that deep tissue. It goes farther than Relaxation Massage (aka Swedish Massage) and is intended for a different purpose. This massage is designed to alleviate tension in the body conclusive to an activity or sport, increase blood flow to the soft tissues, and may help to reduce inflammation. This technique may also include range-of-motion stretching, heated moist towels, as well as silicone cups may be used which create negative space to promote circulation, reduce muscle tension, and improve range of motion by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which can promote relaxation and a sense of well-being. A low amount of soreness in the days following your Therapeutic Massage may sometimes occur. This may be dealt with using ice, heat, stretching, or epsom salt baths. Talk about your comfort levels before and during the massage. Be clear about the extent of your injuries/condition, how long you have been healing or dealing with this condition, and what your current pain level is. As always after any massage, hydration will aid in muscle recovery.

Reflexology Massage

This type of massage that involves applying different amounts of pressure to the feet and/or hands. It's based on a theory that these body parts are connected to certain organs and body systems. By applying pressure to these parts offers a range of health benefits. Reflexology is an ancient Chinese belief in qi, or "vital energy". According to this belief, qi flows through each person. When a person feels stressed, their body blocks qi. This can cause an imbalance in the body that leads to illness. Reflexology aims to keep qi flowing through the body, keeping it balanced and disease free. In Chinese medicine, different body parts correspond with different pressure points on the body. Reflexologists use maps of these points in the feet, hands, and ears to determine where they should apply pressure. The belief is that touch sends energy flowing through a person's body until it reaches the area in need of healing. Reflexology may help to reduce stress and anxiety, reduce pain, lift mood, improve general well-being. In addition to boost the immune system, reduce pain including shortness of breath, reduce menstrual complications, improve digestion, ease arthritis pain and peripheral neuropathy.

Hotstone Massage

Hotstone massage involves the application of smooth, flat, heated stones, usually made of basalt (a type of volcanic rock that retains heat), of varying sizes to key points on the body, and provides the feeling of a grounding effect to relieve muscle tension and pain, reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep. This type of massage may help relieve symptoms of autoimmune diseases, and may boost immunity. The stones will be used to massage you similar to Relaxation Massage using techniques such as short or long strokes, and circular movements. The stones are heated between 130 to 145 degrees. Anyone will benefit from a hotstone treatment but make sure you talk about your specific concerns.
